12. Who would you say is your “anti” role model? Someone who serves as a warning rather than an inspiration?

(would prefer not to answer this as it’s someone I once knew and not a celebrity/public figure)

13. What’s your least “politically correct” opinion?

I believe that there is absolutely no excuse for choosing to remain uneducated about the meat industry in America. I believe that it is the equivalent of turning a blind eye to those in need, and just because those ‘in need’ are “only animals” doesn’t mean that their pain is trivial or non-existent. Livestock animals are living creatures that, in modern society, are viewed as nothing more than objects and commodities. Human beings ourselves are “only animals”- although we are capable of higher levels of mental abstraction and thought, we don’t experience pain any more or less than any living creature. Pain is pain. Experience and perception is universal, and the more I research consciousness and the neuroscience, the more it cements this view.

Animals are also unable to advocate for themselves- we as human beings have a unique position of choice and power, and it makes me very sad to see so many people look down on animals as objects and not living organisms with their own experiences, sensations, and perception of the world. I don’t think eating meat is inherently wrong- I support both traditional farming and hunting practices. The death of an individual organism is a part of life. I do, however, think that it is torture to force a living being to spend its life in pain and squalor. This is a subject I feel incredibly passionate about and could talk about for hours, but, it’s probably best I stop here…

32. What’s the weirdest item you’ve ever mourned?

I don’t know if “mourned” is the right word but, one time I had a tiny, tiny, tiny screw in a little dish by my sink; it was creepily tiny, to a point that I felt almost uncomfortable with its existence; it’s easy to look at objects so tiny and imagine them growing like miniscule tumors inside of some unsuspecting person’s flesh, or even forming inside of wood or stone; anyway, I accidentally tipped the dish one day and it fell down the drain…which is also strange; an object so small that most people, if they saw it, would not even register it as an “object” at all and would see just a small bit of random material…lost forever, still in existence somewhere, but forever unknown; it will never be recognized as a screw again. Strange to think about.

34. Do you have any “rules” about food?

Mayonnaise is fouler than the devil’s own smegma and I won’t eat anything with it as an ingredient (unless it’s used only in negligible amounts). Eggs and egg products in general (with the exception of custard, which I love) are inedible to me; I cannot taste anything but the excessive sulfur taste… it reminds me of a sulfur pit in Florida; I don’t remember what the actual pit was like, but in my memories, it’s a place of molten metal spitting up caustic gas and that’s all I can think of when I smell eggs, I think of all those toxic metals swirling around inside my stomach, so harsh they gnaw away at my own acid-resistant stomach lining, and it’s enough to make me lose my appetite…also I don’t eat meat, cheese “product” (i.e American cheese, spray cheese, etc) or fast food.
