Oh, man, Něco z Alenky is your favourite animated movie? That is pretty much perfect. Top five places (big or small, imagined or real, doesn't matter)?

I listed them in no particular order, but yeah, it’s a really great movie, I watched it a lot as a kid (along with all of Jan Švankmajer’s short films). For those of you who haven’t heard of the movie BTW, it’s a Czech version of Alice in Wonderland using stop-motion and extensive use of taxidermy/skeletons to create the creatures.

Two people asked about architectural spaces so I’ll answer both of you;

1. A mansion encased in a larger room with the sea painted on the four external walls; one wall of this outer room opens up to an even larger room, miles and miles wide, the floor of which is an actual sea

2. A series of square rooms connected by open doorways on all four walls; a forest grows inside

3. A black-walled & ceiling’d room with uneven grey floors & grey desert scenes painted on the walls; 3-4 miniature towns (each town less than a foot wide) with windowless dark grey buildings spaced periodically around the room; this is a depressing place but it’s my character Irving’s dimension so it has some sentimental value

4. White sand beach overlooking a blood red ocean beneath a black sky, blood red rain falling over the ocean but not on the land, a small white-walled shack about 20 feet from the shore, and a forest with glowing white-barked and iridescent blue-leaved trees behind that

5. All of the Midgar slum houses from Final Fantasy VII
